In one of the largest provinces in China, Sichuan Province, a very special hotel has opened its doors. You’ve seen ice hotels. You’ve seen normal hotels. Have you seen a panda hotel? At the foot of the Emei Mountains near a giant panda mating facility, Haoduo Panda hotel is totally dedicated to the worlds cutest bears.
If you’ve ever been to Disneyland, you’ll remember how staff dress in costumes like Mickey Mouse. At Panda hotel, the staff dress as Pandas and even the restaurants and hotel rooms are decorated for the full panda experience.
Directly 900km east of Sichuan Province is Shanghai in the province of Zhejiang. Popular attractions in Zhejiang include hiking at Putuo, Tiantai, Yandangshan and Qiandao Lake. Others check out the two thousand year old temple of Guoqing that has over 600 rooms and many grand halls.
One place I’d really like to go to is the Angry Birds theme park, a small theme park of only 400 visitors per day, which is really perfect for taking the kids to. My experience with Alton Towers in Britain was that while there was a lot to do, the queues at peak times took up a considerable amount of our time as a group. I think the Angry Birds theme park would be a ton of fun, it has a giant slingshot that fires you through golden arches. I’m probably too much of a scaredy bird to try that out though!
On my next China holiday I’ll probably visit the Terracotta Warriors and the Yangtze River. I’ve heard so much about the terracotta warriors so I certainly want to see them for myself. They are situated in the Qin Shi province, which is quite far from the coast in central China. I’d prefer to go with a company that offered China tours for something like this, having had a good experience with a tour operator in Vietnam when I visited Mytho, Vietnam on an aid project.
